well, I told you I am a bit dumb does. that exclude me as a hobbyist , or do just the smart ones get to play. (take it easy gus did I used a fullstop ) so the grammer and the punctuation could improve (but then maybe baby your generosity towards the less gifted could improve (pass the tissues) well here I go again my last try (before I banned ) in my early days in marine 1972 ,I was buying everything and as a result the glass box (tank= fish ) became a slaughterhouse , and the quick turnover of stock = revolving door .( oh no another dot) but now I can run my glass box of water without filters /skimmers /floss /additives( . ) Well now what I see are marine tanks that look like someone has tipped a tin of fruit salad into the tank , and I wonder as time goes by what happens . Well now I have a choice don't post so not to offend or just (LURK) pass that box of tissues ladies , gus quote: do not study disease, study life and health, and how to maintain them.......

No, I believe the point that Gus is trying to get across is that he can keep his tank running without a skimmer, filter, additives, etc. And apparently succesfully. Is this a fish only set up Gus or do you keep corals? What size tank, whats your lighting, sand? Live rock?
The tanks you see now Gus (as you put it - that look like someone has tipped a tin of fruit salad into it), are simply tanks full of corals and marine life. With the proper husbandry and meticulous care as far as coral placement goes, along with regular fragging of those corals, it's quite easy to keep a tank growing and thriving. As long as the optimum conditions are given to the animals you've chosen to place in your tank is met, then the tank will thrive. We just try to simulate the same effects that nature has on a coral reef in our little boxes of water. Marine animals, currents, storms, humans and many other factors have an impact on the reefs and how they grow. We just try to contain a small piece of the ocean in a box. Certainly, if a tank full of corals is left without care and maintenence, it will eventaully fail. All we're trying to do is stop that from happeneing by keeping up with a regulalr maintenence schedule and providing the animals the nutrients, water quality and lighting they need.
I must say, if you can maintain a tank without any form of maintence, then bully for you. 8) I would LOVE to see some pictures of your current set up.

Gus, let me state that I don't think you're stupid at all.
I also don't care that much about grammer and punctuation or misspellings, or typos, as long as the message is still understandable enough to get the point across. I'm not a big nit-picker about this stuff. If you don't believe me do a search for posts by incysor, here, or on RC, or on nano-reef, or marshreef.com.
However most of your posts are nearly illegible due largely to incomplete sentences/thoughts. I don't care if you post a two paragraph run on sentence. I'm not an english teacher and you're not getting graded. But if you post a series of sentence fragments seperated by back slashes and expect help, or comments or discussion it just isn't gonna happen cause people can't understand what you're saying. Email, web forums, or letters just aren't the best for efficient and thorough communication. The only way to communicate well in these types of media is to type more, not less. I'd love to be able to help you with problems, or get help from you with problems I might have, or heck just have a thought provoking discussion, but it's unlikely if every other post has to be decrypted.

I really prefer active boards than ones that are full of lurkers. It's a better learning environment that way. hi sorry that I have caused confussion, ( looks like the casualty rate is rising) we all have our limitations my is explaining what I am trying to say , the only resorce I have IS PATIENCE, 1st ( only just one more,. then no more, means to me , do do we ever resist the ( just one more fish/ coral ) be it beginner/ expert fail the the test . then we off down the highway to buy another bit of equipment to solve the problem . simplicity = if I add to much to the the glass box then the occupants will be unable to obtain what they need to extract from the seawater, then I am off down the highway to buy additives followed by test kits eqq etc etc. .After 43years I slipped my chains(just one more) . The simplicity for me is (decpline/ observation/ patience= suscess
sounds like one of those bots, that you can load, and you type in your language, you choose translate, and then this pops up. They copy and paste and bada-bing bada boom, this is the end result. He just needs a better translating program if this is the case, if not, time to spend some time with somebody who's willing to teach and help.
