I would say if it is a good deal get it if there are problems with it you may be able to tweek it to work better....the main problem with Jebo Odyssea is there is NO customer support here in the US however I use the PC ligts from them and really have no complaints about them ....There are some folks who have had problems with the higher wattage lights catching fire or melting (ours on on the 2.5) ....My advice is to try it and see .....Why is you friend getting rid of it ? Upgrade? Tank shut down? what size tank was it on and will it be on ?

Saidie, My friend is getting rid of it becuase hes getting out of the hobby, he said he had no problems with it, but hes not the most experianced hobbiest, so thats why I am asking. Its good for up to 65 gallons and he had it on a 55 gallon, I am going to be putting it on a 29 gallon that I am working on.

I say go ahead and give it a try if it is less than what you would spend on it new ...How long has he had it up and running that should all play in to the "value" of the product ....you may need to modify it to get it to work at its "peak" value ....

I also say go for it, it is rated for more than twice the size you are palnning on using it on (some manufacturers over rate their products saying they are for bigger systems than they actually can handle). As long as the price is right it should be fine. Like Sadie mentioned, if it doesn't work as well as you'd like you can probably find a few tweaks that will make it perform better.
One of the problems I have found with negative feedback on a product is that some one says they don't like it but never say why, IMO that makes it impossible to make an informed decision on a purchase based on their recommendation or lack there of.

Skip I totaly agree with you about the product feedback issue "I heard they suck" doesn't help much, and yes I am going to go for it, the price is right and its a friend of mine so I doubt hes trying to pull a fast one. I kinda figured that Id need to dial it in, and it could take a while but thats all part of this mess we call a hobby...The paper weight option is defiantly a good one, all i need now is to graduate.......and then we will see about that office LOL

Thanks for the tips as always
