Just wanted to know what everyones take was on the JBJ Digi-Lab.
I got some info from the JBJ site, but wanted to know some cold hard facts from it's users.

Pro's and Con's would be great, or even suggestions to buy a similar product that works better (hopefully more pocket friendly).

Thx Nano Tank Gang,
Jay

I had one of these for a short time.

Pro's: VERY easy and quick to use. Almost fool-proof. Takes temp and SG at the same time. You can save the numbers on the display if you are in the dark or other hard-to-see area.

Con's: I dont think it is as accurate as a refractometer or floating hydrometer (but more accurate than a swing-arm hydrometer).

I actually ended up trading mine with Mike G. for his refractometer. Maybe see if you can get his opinion on it.

I have one and like it very much. I wear glasses and that makes it hard to accurately read a refractometer so this is much easier for me. I have been told by someone else that if you don't take proper care of the electrodes (clean them after use and then dry them) they will corrode and ruin the unit.

Worse trade I've ever done... Not you Jesse, the product sucks. It's very unreliable, gives awful readings that are not accurate at all.... Mine doesn't work any more, only worked about 2 weeks...

I bought new batteries and have calibrated it over and over with even more bad results...

One of my largest LFS told me they are junk and have gone through dozens only to run back to the refractometer....

The refractometer is golden compared to this thing, stay away...

I'm glad Jesse has my old refractometer.... Don't ever trade it Jesse!!!

My two cents....

Jesse,

Nothing to feel bad about; during that time I was on a digital high, every gadget I owned for my tank was digital; ORP, PH, Temp, Ozone and now I had a chance for salinity...

I'm glad I learned and would not advise anyone to purchase that awful thing, also stay away from the digital Calcium readers from Pinpoint; they are horrible, not one good review have I come across....

They just put on the market a Nitrate reader which also has no reviews....

I voted no as well, and I own one. Never purchase things that other reefers have warned you about... You will regret it if you do, take the advice and steer clear of this awful device...

I voted no as well.

Make sure you calibrate the floaters (or atleast know how far off yours might be) . Mine was reading 1.024 and with a refractometer it was 1.033...just a heads up because I was a floater supporter too.
