The 12th of this month it'll b 6 months since I started, My First Nano! It's been really fun. I started with a 2.5 minibow my girlfriend gave me. And a few Lbs of LR my friend sold me 4 pennies on a dollar. It shortly engrossed me to the point of spending hundreds of dollars in the past few months on tanks,ect... When I 1st moved here from STL Mo. I brought a 20 long with me that had a few FW fish n it that survived the house fire. And she had the 2.5 with a single gold fish n it. I then started 2 go 2 yard sales around town 2 look for better, and other stuff I needed. I then ended up with another 20 about 5, 10's, a couple of 2.5 and a 5 gallon hex front. I since have bought a 75,a 55, and a 45. HEHEHE!!! The bigger the better. I have since, started raising baby Crimson Tide Cichlids in the 2.5. A betta in the other 2.5, Cichlids in the 75, Eureka's in the 20 and barbs and tetra's in the other. 7 total going at the moment. The 2.5 SW tank has now been in a 10 gallon 4 3 months. I have added more LR a peppermint shrimp, a damsel, and a few corals, ect...I went and picked up the 55 last weekend with a few problems, "with my car!"... A 5 hour trip ended up 2 b a 12 hour trip. But since I made it back OK I decided 2 change alot of things around. I decided 2 swap the 10 gallon SW 4 a 20 long!!! HEHEHE!!! I started getting things goin' on the 55 and the 20 itself. I'm painting the back of the 20 long and setting it up with sand and a bigger filter for the change. When I transfer it over I will send a few new pics of it. I also am trading the LFS the baby Crimson Tides for extra equipment...Lights, food ect... I figue if i can keep it up at the pace I'm goin' I'll have the 75 with salt in it in a couple of years!!!

I have a few questions for anyone that could help me with the problem I'm havin' with red algea. I'm dosin' the tank with mycin, to help kill the red... It seems like it is workin' but it's hard to tell. The more I look at it the more it seems to be spreadin'. I added a small hang on the back filter and been useing charcoal to help along with the mycin. It just seems like it's not workin'... So any oppions will be considered... Thanks for the time and help....

Sorry, I know this is an old thread but I figured this would be useful for people trying to find an answer to the same problem.

In order for Erythromycin to work effectively you should not use carbon. The carbon will filter out it out making your efforts pointless. HTH.
