Increased Flow

I have put an Aqua-Clear 10 into my 12 Gal Aquapod. It is submersed about 2.5 inches down on the right side (on the glass) it is held on with the three suction cups that it came with, but keeps falling.

I thought that the cups may have been hitting the curve of the corener, so I made sure that they were on the flat wall.

Any suggestions on how to get this thing to stay put? Or even better, any ideas on where else I can put it so that it isn't just floating on the glass in the middle of my tank?

I have heard of people attaching magnets to the pump and securing them to the glass with anothe magnet on the outside. I'm not sure on the details but I believe it involves epoxy.

Yeah that is the "professional" way to do it! There is a DIY way too... I'll see if I can find something on it.

BTW, $25 for that thing? You may as well buy a koralia nano or 1... they come with a magnet/suction cup holder.

I turned the thing on its side. It now blows to the right and takes water in from the front. The weight dispersement is such that the top cup no longer comes loose.

I should have just bought a koralina nano.

In case you ever need to do the same thing some other suggestions have been:

1. Mount the whole powerhead on a piece of PVC that has holes dilled into it and set it in the sand

2. Make a hanger out of scrap acrylic.

If the cups go again I may try one of these. . .

I don't suggest buying it. LOL that is expensive. I just thought that would show what you talked about. LOL koralias are quite nice and very cheap. I would suggest the koralia 1 over the nano only because the nano ones I have don't like to stop and start very much. They work great, but if I turn off and then on, I may have to whack it to get the impeller moving again.

I did a real good job overthinking this one. With the powerhead on the left blowing to the right and pulling from the front I completely bypassed any of my tank's filtration.

As it turns out the powerhead was just fine stuck to the back of the tank being supported by a rock.

Never! Dont worry about it unless the corals appear distressed. Generally corals LOVE flow... the more the better. I have around 400gph+ in my 12g and I would have more if I had another place for a second koralia nano.
