After verifying the price of a 6.6g Bookshelf tank ($50), I think I'll be better off with a 10g tank (~$8-$10 at walmart). This will save me $40, which I can put towards other things for the tank.
I've seen a few 10g setup and they are impressive. I'm still trying to figure out how to effectively partition the tank, in terms of size of sump, refugium, etc. Any idea on this would be appreciated. I just want to do it right the first time.
I have some lexan laying around and was planning to use that for the walls of the partition. However, there have been post stating that it's fairly difficult getting the lexan to bond with the glass. Any idea around this? If not, I'm just going to go pick up a sheet of acrylic at home depot.
As far as lighting, i'm fairly handy with with my hands. I'm thinking about doing a DIY. I saw the $3 DIY Ballast thread either on here or another forum. After seeing that, I ran into a place that seems to have a 60w bulb with the built-in ballast. Gotta go back and look at it again. If it's true, you think i can use the ballast to run a 55/65w power compact?
Sorry for the long post....please give me some feedback.
