roughly 10 lbs sand and 10-11 lbs lr the rest of the live rock will be added later on if you decide on corals . As for the filter you you could use lr in the second chamber of the nano , I am not real well versed on the nano cube as I dont own one of those

i think the best idea to have a good filtration with liverock and live sand is following mikes custom and well you dont need the refugium that he did but maybe later on cause the chaeto really helps so here are the links of mike system of filtration

http://www.nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=644

in other words works great ...

and resuming is like these

chamber 1: sponge , chemi-pure (small one if posible there are two sizes) and sponge
chamber 2: live rock (and chaeto if have a refugium light)
chamber 3: heater, pump (to update a mini jet 606 works great), liverock (and chaeto if you have refugium light but at the same time i dont recomend having chaeto were the pump is why? cause i did it and now im having problems with it cause the pump gets stuck with macro and i have to keep cleaning the pump every other month or so)

so i think best way is to do like stated without the chaeto for know  and also i like to put a piece of poly filter in chamber 3 close to the flow windo between chamber 2 and 3 just in case if a chemical gets in your tank the poly filter will take care of that (what is a polyfilter is a smoge that lfs sell looks like a white sponge) i cut the polyfilter in 3 pieces and change it every 3 weeks or every month and the chemipure every 3 months or less ....

know please nano experts corrections if needed

:D

Sadie hit the amounts pretty well. In the second chamber of the back you can put about 3 pounds of LR rubble to add more of a biofilter to your system. I probably wouldn't try to mod a refugium in for a fish only tank. Skip
