How Much Live Rock??

Nano#9

I'm setting up my 12g NC. Wanting to know how much live rock to order to have enough to put in the chambers and have enough to put in the tank? Getting ready to put my LR order in! I was looking at the different rock package that LiveAquaria offers for the nano tank, think its like 15-16lbs, w/ that be enough for chambers and tank?
Thanks!!!

Normally we use 1-1/2 lbs per gallon, but go easy enough because as you get frags most are attached to little pieces of LR so you'll need room for those.

15-16 sounds about right. It will only take a pound or two of rubble for the back chambers. If anything, you can pick up a little piece here and there to add to your tank.

I forgot to mention too that is depends on what kind of LR it is... some are more porous and weigh less and you end up with more rock than some of the more dense kinds.

I would say start off small. Like Jennie said, when you get coral frags, you get in on rock. I have probably 11 pounds minus my coral, which isnt that much.

I have 11 lbs in my 12 dx...which is about right IMO. Keep in mind...The 12g dx really doesn't have 12 gallons of volume in the viewing area. Seems like my tank only took 8 gallons of water after the 11 lbs of rock was added..
