How hot does your MH tank get in the summer?

Well, it's sorta lighting related :)

Thought i'd take a little poll here of MH users on small tanks; how how does your tank get in the summer? I've just set up my 20gal with a 30gal sump/fuge with a 175w 20k lighting the 20. I had the light on for 3-4 hours and the temp didnt rise over 74-75 with fans off and ambient temps in the mid 70's.

Just wondering how hot your halide tanks get in the summer in the houston area.

Putting the canopy on the large tank raised my temp about 2-3 degrees. That's with the VHO's on, but not the MH. I should be getting the canopy for the 40g in the next few days, and have the new light on it. I'll just have to see what happens. Hopefully with the fans going full time it won't be that different. It'll be at least another week before I start adding the MH into the lighting mix. I'm sure my fish are confused as heck. They went from 16hrs of light a day to 4, which has gradually been added too as the weeks go by. I'm up to 7hrs a day now. My goal is to get it to 8hrs then start with the MH 1hr per day. Until I have the VHO's on 8-10hrs, and the MH 3-4hrs each day.

My lighting is a 150w metal halide pendant over a 7g and my tank stays a constant 79-80 however i do have a fan blowing across the surface of the water

This is a good question because I am currently setting up a 20H and I had a left over 250MH pendant that I am using. Today was the first day that I finally got the pendant hanging and I have it 10 inches off of the top of the tank. I ran it for a couple hours and wanted to see if the glass I put on top of the tank would get hot. I didn't get any real noticable (to the bare hand)temp change there.

and yes I know this is a pretty serious overkill on the lighting but I had it so it was free.
