cloning. Just provide them with the best possible, most stable tank you can and they will do their thing. It is cool isn't it.

I just watched a show on HDT about coral... amazing. a lot of coral actually spawn. once a year all over the place they just let loose. The sperm and eggs floating through the water will actually create some cross breeding and the currents take the offspring all over different parts of the earth. If I remember correctly that was more specifically with Staghorn Acropora...... I don't know if Zoas and mushrooms do this as they weren't talked about in the show. This is a facinating underwater world for sure.

Usually great water parameters are all you need. You can frag mushrooms, but it's actually much easier to let them propagate by themselvs...

Also you will find that certain critters reproduce more prolifically depending on the amount of light they have. In my opinion, yellow zoos do best as close to the surface as you can get them. Move things around and give it a try!

cool!, i put the yellow polyps in a high place so i hope they are happy and clone. i think this is the coolest part of having a reef tank, watching life grow an do its thing.

warning... when these guys take off... they REALLY take off.
Very true.

Extremely true. Jesse gave me four of these just loose that he cut off the glass of his tank just a month or two ago. I already have ten polyps and I was only able to save 3 of the original polyps. Crazy.

I'm shocked that no one has mentioned the most common way polyps reproduce; reefer goes to LFS and comes back with more, before you know it his tank looks like Edgrays tank....

With the yellow zoas, my recommendation is to find the spot in your tank they do the absolute best... and then drop 1.5 inches. That way they will still grow, but at a slightly slower rate. You can feed these guys, they are voracious eaters much like those bloody aptasia are. Fun to watch.

Just dont have their rock touching anything you really care about. Or next thing you know, you'll have it on your kitchen counter, with a hypodermic needle, nuking them one by one and scrubbing off the remains. They give a great pop of color in a tank, but damnnnnnn!
