HOB Surface Skimmer

I was wondering, has there been an HOB with a Surface Skimmer out in the market? Or has it been all DIY?

there are a couple that have surface skimmers....cant think of the brands off hands but i know there are a couple....

I've seen that already. What I meant was the typical HOB filter...if there were any with surface skimmers.

Theres a guy here who posted his pico tank with a pill bottle surface skimmer...i'm looking for something else but with the same function. Something commercially available.

Thanks Sadielynn, but I've seen that too. What I mean is the typical HOB like the AC-300, Penguin, Emperor, Whisper.....you know, the common HOB's....these dont have a SURFACE Skimmer. The skilter is basically a HOB with a PROTEIN skimmer. Because with big tanks, more or less they all come with surface skimmers...or can be fitted with one. But with pico tanks or any tank from 10 below, you need all the space you can get. Wouldnt you like to have crystal clear water and no surface scum....thats what I meant.

I suppose if you wanted to, you could DIY a surface skimmer prefilter box for the HOB. Just build a box, dremel some teeth around the front and two sides and mount it at the water surface so the water flows down into the box where the intake tube of the HOB will sit. Sort of like the prefilter box that Remora sells with the Remora Pro skimmer.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I have tried that but it takes up too much space. So basically theres none in the market? I was hoping that there was one commercially available.

Yup, they are...I saw both at my LFS but for a Pico that would be quite large. Does the skilter work? I mean does it work well?

Mine seems to do a decent enough job. No crashes, or problems in a year.
