Hello,

Can someone help me identify this hitchiker. I bought home a toadstool leather, and on the back of the stalk I find this.

It almost looks like some kind of anemone.

thanks for the help

yep aptasia I believe as well. - scrape it off or shot it up with a syringe full of very strong kalk, or something like joes juice. Also be advised that toadstool will get huge - likely to large for your tank in less then a year

Thanks for the replies

Yes, I've been reading that that aptipsia is not a welcome hitchiker by any means. I'll try pulling him off or the lemon juice.

Yes, the toadstool is large, when you look at it at the lfs in a 200gal tank it looks small but then you get it home and it overpowers my tank.

I may have to sell it on ebay or trade for something smaller.

I have not seen aptipsia with so many tenticules and such a thick stalk. Is eveyone sure about this? Agreed, it is ugly like aptipsia; but, mine has never looked so big. Maybe it's the angle of the shot and the distoration of the glass and the second beer. Perhaps we are being a little fast with the needle. Hmmmm...a second photo is in order if you ask me. What do you expect from me the novice?

Yep. It looks like aiptasia to me as well. I use a syinge of boiling RO/DI water and inject them to kill them. I've also used lemon juice, and kalk. I haven't tried joes juice, but I've heard good things about it.
