my shop place is like a good 45 minutes away, and i want somthing cheap and compact because i dont have much room anyway sugetions?
oh, and i like live right off the coast on sothern calafornia,about a five minute walk, would it be safe to use that water, or better ideas?
and if it is safe, should i clean it in anyway?(lots of seaweed in the water)
hah and one other thing....... in so-cal its cold water,so whats your opinion?
Please help me all you "pros" :) Shocked

Lots of coastal waters off of California are contaminated. That is why when you purchase real sea water at a LFS it's bottled at the source, Catalina.

In catalina the water is more enriched with the natural nutrients found in ocean water, less to contaminate since they are so far off the coast.

That water you talk about would work but you risk the chance of a contaminate entering your system.

Is it worth it? Some say no some say yes. Say you refill 10 gallons of saltwater once a month that's $120 dollars in one year. Say on your last water change, the free stuff from the ocean brings a contaminate, you lose all your stock, that's more than $500 dollars.
