Someone around here just had this same problem... i just cant remember how they resolved it.

I would imagine you could bend up a net to capture him or worst case drain the chamber and remove him that way.

HTH, and hope someone else can quickly repsond.

We tried to bend the net , but he managed to find a hiding spot where we can't get to him or even see him.

The filter has 4 vertical columns and the middle two have a raised bottom which makes a very small space underneath that is not visible or accessible at all! I had to take the filter out when we were trying to get him out of there.

Any advice on how long the filter can safely be unplugged? Or would it be safe to plug it back in?

i believe they made a small net out of pantyhose and a coathanger. i have had the same problems and all i did was get a big enough hose and syphon him out into a container. works evreytime. HTH

Well thanks for the advice... We were able to get him out but then he got back in again. One of our cats is obsessed with the tank and keeps scaring them over the back. We cut up a DVD case and super glued it to get rid of the gap between the water and lid. Anyone know if that's going to be a problem?

the super glue will be fine. thats what most people use in there tanks. i use it everyday to glue frags on rocks. you shouldnt have a problem with what you did. i have to do the same thing soon, my fish just love to go for that ride, and then i spend an hour triing to get them out of my sump/fuge. probably put a fix to that tonight.

Wow that sounded like a common issue. I wonder if anyone let the makers know of the problem. It sounds like it would be really scary for a newb. someone like me.

That was me. My blue-green chromis was in the back of my 12g nanocube dx for three days! My nets, even the really small one, were to restrictive back there.

Anyway, I cut the toe off of a pair of pantihose about 2 inches up and threaded some thin flexible wire through the edge to fashion a small and flexible net. Using the thin (not too thin like beading wire, but think enough it bends easily) wire allowed me to change the shape of the net as needed during the whole ordeal. If you have a nanocube, be aware that the wall between the two chambers has a whole in it which the fish can sneak through. If we realized that right away, it would have taken far less time to catch my fish. It took my BF and I over an hour to get him out, but it worked and he has since been rewarded by a move to my 29gal and the addition of 4 of his own kind. I'm not even sure which one he is now!

HTH-
Karen
