Ok, so my Power company is going to be doing some Maintenence in the area nad the power is going to be disrupted!!! They don't know how long! Will the clean crew be ok without a Powerhead running or anything going?? If not, what can I do before tomorrow, to be sure they will be ok?!????!?!?

You dont say what your cleaning crew is but you should be fine but as an added protection you may want to get a battery operated air pump found in wal mart fishing departments for water flow. Another option is to go get a battery back up for computers and run your filter and power heads with it you wont really need the lights ...

How long will the power be out for? If just for a few hours, you may be ok. It may be a good idea to find out so you don't invest on something that you might regret later.

when they called me the girl on the phone didn't know, but whne I got home from work I recieved a notice from the apartment complex that it is only going to be 2 twenty min. periods. Not too bad, but I still might look into getting the battery back up later on.

I'm just south of you and we've been having UNannounced outages. I'm not sure how long they are lasting because it is during the day when I'm at work. So far I haven't had any issues from it. Wish all power companys would call their clients and let them know prior to an outage. But then again, they can't all be planned.

Yeah, I am too late in adding anything, but for future reference ya may wanna get the UPS for computers charged up. Most the time you buy those without any backup power and they need charging for a day or so.

Seems like a pricey idea. I'd imagine a small generator would be a more cost effective purchase. Lights tend to need alot of power and UPSes that can supply that much power are kinda expensive. A UPS is made so when the power goes out you can shut down your computer without data loss...not to run it for hours. If I'm wrong please put a link proving me so.

How we us ours is to run just pumps and power heads for about an hour (most power outages dont last much longer here ) than that.......However ours does not run the lights just the moonlights so we get about an hour . It is true with the lights it would drain in a matter of minutes but with just the filter and power heads we get like I said between an hour and an hour and half  wich is great for short outages
