Help...tank shattered.

I had a custom made tank which shattered on me last night as I was in the process of moving due to extreme cold in my house.

I moved most of everything that I could save from the shattered tank into my 12g JBJ nanocube including water, live rock, sand, my gobbie and shrimp. Do I have to cycle this tank or should everything be ok? I ended up having to trash a lot of rocks and sand because I could not fit them into my nanocube.

My shrimp and gobbie I have not seen them since I put them into the nano thank. I hope they survived.

if you transferred the live rock and the sand, you might be ok as far as cycle, and you transferred water so the water params shouldn't have changed that much.
i think the extreme cold in the house is the biggest danger.
i do feel for you though. how big was the custom?
my stepdad accidently sent a rocking chair through a 29 gal. once... so his angelfish had to go into a 10 gal. it sucks when that happens.

The tank was a custom 24x24.5x8.

Almost everything was transfered into the Nanocube from the custom tube.

I don't think that will have to much to worry about as far as a cycle as long as your LR wasn't exposed to air for long. I doubt that you will see the goby or shrimp for a few days due to the stress of the sudden move.

sudden move as in 3ft fall or into a new tank...sorry i couldn't resist. Sorry about your loss jgreen. I can't imagine having to go through that. Hopefully everything survives and that you can overcome this hurdle.

Did you throw the rocks away? Even if they dry out and die, if you eventually use them again they will become inoculated with bacteria and become "alive" again.

believe it or not, I have thrown away hundreds of dollars worth of rock just because I never thought about that. My first live rock set cost me over 200 dollars. To say the least, most of that is in the trash now. The left over rock from the damaged tank I put in a bucket and was going to throw it out on trash day. But you have a point.

The rock in my NC12g is some of the first bits of live rock I ever brought mixed in with some of the newer rocks I just brought 2 months ago. It doesn't have any color to it. Sometimes I look into my tank and I want to throw those rocks away too. But, after cycling for a month, I don't want to go through that again. I know the color will come back at some point.

Also, for the first time, I love how the aquascaping came out this time around and I don't want to change anything. I'll get a picture later.
