:anxious Boo!!

I looked up My fish..and it sorta looks like this..

http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm ... cleid=1764

On My receipt it was called a PSEUDOCHROMIS BASSELET...

But it's all MAGENTA and the fins are clear with a lil sparkly look sometimes..

He seems to be doing fine in My tank though..

You guys think he'll live for a long time??

I hope so because think My fish is nice...

I was plannin' to buy a little clownfish too...

Think I can still get one??

They are quite agressive once established ...and will eat ornamental shrimps ...chances are he will be your only fish as he will harass others added after he has set up establishment and they are known jumpers as well

:anxious So I can't get a Fire Shrimp or the Skunk Shrimp in My tank???

:pom And this fish sure can jump...when the guy was gettin him...he jump out of the tank and into another one! lol

you can if you are prepared to keep replacing them ....I had one eat my shrimp and he was added last (the psuedeo that is) he also harrased the other established fish because they are in a small tank with only so many territories to build up on these fish are best left to 30 gallons or larger with lots of rock work ...JMHHO

That stinks...so what should I do?

Should I buy a clownfish? Like the same size?

Should I get a Fire Shrimp and Skunk Shrimp a little bigger than it so it wont eat them?

Yeah it seems you have a fish that won't in your tank. I had to cross off a couple of fish that I want because of size  . It sucks but if you really want the fish to live long and healthy then you should return that one and look for fish that are more suited to nano tanks. Here is one link to help you find some:

http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scat ... CatId=2124

Hope that helps you and sorry that your fish won't let you have any others in the tank with him. Maybe you would like a pistol shrimp and goby. I've never had them but I hear they make an intersting pair of creatures to watch.

In my experience helpful but not always accurite......Like I said I will stand firm on my opinion on this one those fish can be agressive especially when added first and in a tank as small as the one in this thread .........They can and usually do bully any other fish added later on including the timid clowns .....the can and will eat ornamental shrimp as a snack so as long as you are willing to replace the shrimp then you can have one ....Like I said earlier on in my experience I had this same fish and he snacked on a couple of shrimp that were 1-2 inches long .....I dont take live aquarias compatability chart compleatly to heart it is a tool to allow me to do more research , which I see is lacking a bit in this thread , not to sound harsh.. I personally would not have that fish in a tank that is this size again and with shrimp you are taking a risk by doing that if you wish to take the risk that is your choice ....while they are a neat fish and quite pretty they are very agressive at best.......it wont take long to bully a clown fish to his death if added ....I had one as a very first fish and he picked on a damsel fish then when the damsel was removed and clown added he bullied the clown....after that he committed fishacide and carpet surfed ....My advice is to return it or just be happy with him as a lone fish and no shrimp .

Experience is worth much more than any heresay or research IMO...can't argue with first hand experience.

Not sure babiighurl. I vote on returning it or keeping it your only creature in the tank.

Semo - seems to be a good starting point.

It sounds like you have three choices. You can return the fish and get fish more appropriate for a 6 gallon tank that will not harass each other or keep the fish you have by itself or you can disregard everything already said and learn the same lesson the hard and expensive way. You need to research your tank inhabitants before you buy to make sure you can put them in your tank with the rest of the fish/inverts you want to keep. This is especially important in a nano due to the small amount of territory that is available.

Do not rely on your LFS for advice of any kind. If I've learned anything in this hobby during the last ten years, that is it.

I must agree with DJ...always make sure that all info from a LFS is backed with info from other sources...

p.s. I dont even trust EVERYthing that my FAVORITE LFS tells me...and they are pretty good.

i have an orchid dottyback in my 18gal
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod ... CatId=1177
but i put him in when he was very small, with a pair of clowns and a cleaner shrimp which had been there for a few months already, and they all get along really well...i tried to add a sixline wrasse to complete my fish, but the dottyback wouldn't have any of it

the orchid dottybacks are one of the least agressive....really if you are adding one, it must be your final addition....that way he won't presume he's the boss

and that is an awful lot of scarlets...i would say that half that would be sufficient. Is this in a 6 gallon? if so, 3 scarlets would be all you need. Also, if those snails really are turbos, they will get too large for a 6 gallon.
