I thought when your nitrites, nitrates, and amonia settled on 0's you could slowly add cleaning crew then wait about a week or so and then slowly add fish/coral (one a week I think). If I'm wrong someone tell me :)

Well thats more apropiate but you can add corals or invertebrates every 3 days if everything seems under control but fish ill say a week cause they produce more bioload.......ALWAYS test your water before deciding on getting anything..IMO...

Ammonia and nitrite levels should read zero for several days before adding anything or turning the lights on for more than a peek. You may have some nitrates present but you want to keep that level to less than 20. I usually recommend a week between any additions just to give the tank plenty of time to adjust to the new bioload.

Heh well now it is the waiting game. The brown stuff is probably diatoms. your clean up crew should handle it when the go in. Do you have your lights on now?

Tim

 sorry about that well diatom is something normal when you're starting your tank and well they can be reduced by using less you lights for now cause your tank doesnt need it too much cause no corals so try to have your lights for now 5-6 hours the most and well time and cleaning crew will take care of that...and the diatom is not really a good stuff and normally feeds on high nitrates and phosphate but is normal cause your cycling in its time will go away so dont worry.

I would not get turbo snails, they get too big and act like bulldozers knocking things over all of the time unless they are in a big tank. Go with astreas, margaritas, trochus, or cerith snails for the glass and rocks and nassarious snails for the sandbed. Don't be tempted to get bumble bee snails at this time, the are carnivores and not cleaners and can be added later if you desire.

When you get your water tested  put the results up here and that should tell if you can start adding things yet.

:anxious bOo!! I couldn't get My water tested the other day, but I am going to today..I'm thinkin' about buying a Blue Damsel if My tests are good.

:iill Ok..when I bought My rocks...they were NOT CURED...
It has been 3weeks and 2days...

:cryinga: How do I know when they are CURED???

Well, they stop smelling... and then all your tests come up 0's AFTER going up. (when the bacteria are all done growing, dieing, growing, etc... until a balance is achieved). Have fun waiting...

You LR is cured when your tank completes its cycle and you can tell the cycle has completed by the readings of you test results. Basically the main thing is ammonia and nitrite readings of 0 and nitrate readings as low as possible but at least <20.

:bgrinkin: SATURDAY I went to the pet shop and got My water tested..

:yay And the guy told Me that My Water was perfect for Me to put something in it!!!

:smooch: So I got a very very cute PSEUDOCHROMIS BASSELET...

:love5: The color of it is really cool...its like MAGENTA..

:nlove: I Love it...

 It didn't eat the first day of course...

 I'm very happy that its healthy and doing good!

I hope that you didnt add it too soon as your tank is a bit immature yet ....the basselet is more suited to a larger system and will be a bit on the agressive side so you may not be able to add anything else to the tank they also may eat ornamental shrimp which can be a bit on the expensive side
just curious tho is this the one you have
