Help, Fuge light growing bad algae in my return lines !!!

I placed the 75 watt 2700 K bulb and it's made my macros really take off and stabalize my PH to a steady 8.0-8.1 in the night.

However since adding it to my fuge it's making my water lines grow brown algae inside.

These lines are pretty much connected so tight that I would have to cut them to get inside to scrub them with a brush.

Anyone have this problem and now how to correct it? I wasn't expecting to have algae grow inside the tube.

I use to use a reflected fixture that directed light downwards and not up around to the tubes but the fixture was the wrong kelvin.

I just might have to reconnect the fixture with the correct kelvin bulb and pull the plug on this one.

Help anyone???

The two main fixes for this problem are to replace the hoses with black lines so the light can't get through them or two wrap the lines with something to prevent the light from getting in. Of course neither one will help clean the algae already there but if you were to go with the wrap method it should dieoff and disappear over time. Good luck.

I have seen people use the large size plastic cord managers for electrical equipement...the black plastic tubes that you runn the wires through to conceal them.

Thanks so much Reefman and Skipm...... I will purchase the black cords to conceal my return lines......

I've also lowered my light to the lid of the sump.....

I decided to purchase the 6,700K 18 watt coralife fixture and run it over my sump; the light channels downward and I removed my melvev 75 watt bulb that grew macros like mad.

I recommend it only $15 dollars for the bulb and fixture and you will get a ton of growth.

Here are some pics of my new setup...
