hello everyone...let me first congratulate you on such a friendly forum...

I am the proud owner of an 8 day old nano (70 litres/16 gal/18.5 U.S.gal) in sunny :lol3: :lol3: England

I have 13.5 kg of live rock and 20 kg of live sand in there...plus plenty of hitchikers...my cycle is nearing an end, and i'm looking forward to choosing my first addition (hermits or shrimp i think!!)

At the mo i have no skimmer (but hopefully enough rock) as i would only have room for an internal (sander maxi-skim 300) which aren't very efficient, so i'm seeing how it goes (and going to do 10% water changes/week)....any comments or opinions on my tank...where to go next welcome.....i'm hoping to have 2/3 small fish and some shrimps/hermits, but no corals by the way

Welcome! We really do have an international forum! Nice. Can you maybe post a picture of the tank from the top? Is there some sort of built-in filter? And I know you said that do dont want corals, but just curious about what kind of lighting you have? Im curious about your tank, too. Is there a brand name for the tank so I can check it out in detail?

Nice rock by the way. We welcome any and all questions, feel free to ask.

it's not a dedicated reef tank...i got it from here
https://sslrelay.com/www.rocketrading.co.uk/
(it's the 'fish R fun' 70 litre bowfront)
it does have a trickle filter in the lid (with ceramic media/activated carbon/sponge) but i'm thinking of ditching everything but the carbon when it's up and running!?!?
the light is just a standard flourescent 15 w i think, and i have added 6 LED moonlights.

ps...i have another powerhead in there now

nice tank. i , too, have a 16 gallon bowfront tank. You could add live rock rubble to the trickle filter, and make sure you keep the sponge clean if you decide to keep it in there.

it's been a while since i've updated this....

i have added 2 cleaner shrimp (one full of eggs as they are a mated pair..i'm going to have a very lucky first fish!!)

and yesterday a perc. clown....he's still being a bit shy...but i'm hoping he'll get braver soon (he is when the moonlights only are on)

noonoo the conch, and a lovely bit of LR

i havn't yet replaced my ceramic media with LR rubble...when i do, am i right in thinking i should remove the ceramic gradually to give the LR chance to take over the filtration, and so not cause an ammonia spike?
thanks

Eventualy i would recommend getting something for the clown to almost...which could be anything...and that would get him over his shyness pretty quick! Ive heard of those clowns hosting everything from hammer corals to frogspawn to powerheads! he'll come out, they are lots of fun and generally love to swim in the power head's current.
