I believe that since the Nanos I’m looking at come with all the filtration inside the back panel..

This is true, but you may want to change the filter media in the back from the ceramic things and Bio balls to Live Rock Rubble and Filter floss, because the Stock media is a potental nitrate factory. I have heard of people running the stock media but ALOT more people run the Rubble and Floss, at least for the filtration. It sounds like you've already done some research and are familiar but people on this forum are VERY helpful when you do have questions. Welcom again!
