Green Star Polyps not opening

I have a big patch of star polyps that about half the colony was open yesterday, and now today, the main group is not open at all, remaining tightly closed.

I have a smaller patch on the other side of the tank that are open well and normally.

All other corals doing very well. Any ideas? They have grown over half their size, and they were doing and looking beautiful!

I've learned from experience that GSP can be moody. Give it a day or so to see if anything might just be moving accross it to annoy it.

I too have found them to be moody for no reason. I have a VERY healthy colony of GSP that for no reason that i can tell will close up for a 3 or 4 day period. then, next thing you know, they are fully extended.

Yeah everyone is right my GSP is kinda stubborn too it opens when he feels like to some times 1 time a week.... and well they are cool but im keeping away from them cause they tend to be really moddy mine after a while opened only like 2 times a month so i said bye bye to it....take that GSP :lol: ... ... so let it be and eventually it will open in hes time and condition.......did it opened yet???? :?:

GSP back open

GSP is back open today.....a few polyps started opening last night, but other than that this is the first time I have ever experienced it not coming out! I thought I was losing the whole lot.

What was weird, is my hermits never get on my corals, and NEVER the GSP. They were all over the GSP during this closed spell. Could it be this corals way of cleaning itself? Perhaps something was on the polys, down by the bases? They were really going at it...cleaning.

I love the GSP....its like a little lawn in my tank, and I will continue to keep it. We all have bad moods! But I will say, I was on the verge of thinking it was dead and dying and getting ready to pull it out of the tank so it wouldnt foul it.

Glad it decided to open back up. You can tell it is dying when the purple base begins to turn pale and white.

I have a beautiful colony that is acting up again.... Go figure, it use to bloom fully but has retracted a lot; I blame my lighting that was off and on for about 1 month becuase of the bad reefkeeper that I had...

I'm waiting for a replacement on the RK and then I'll see how she does after...
