Gold striped maroon clown in my 20 gal?

I've been lucky to observe many clowns and my friend's gold striped maroon was always one of my favorites. I saw a juvenile at a lfs the other day that caught my eye. The owner said it had been in his tank for about a month and was doing good.

My question is will a juvenile gold stripe maroon clown be okay with my six-line wrasee, who is my only other fish in my 20 gal? If it grew up with the six-line, would it be friendly when the GSM gets bigger? I know that they tend to be aggressive.

I don't have an amenone in my tank b/c my last RBTA got sucked into my powerheads and I'm not ready to try that again. Will he host my frowspawn, hammer, or torch? Thanks guys.

I think they would be alright together as they grow older together but I would want to have an alternate plan just in case. As for the anenome I have been told by a friend who is a clownfish breeder that most clowns don't have the hosting instinct that wild clowns do, so that would depend on whether the clown is wild caught or captive bred as to whether he would try to host in something other than an anenome. I think it would get along fine as long as it was small. It's really a toss up as to what will happen as it gets bigger. If it's wild caught it's more likely to host something, but you can never tell. I disagree that the tank raised ones don't have the instinct to host, but from what I've seen of them they tend to host strange things...Like the cleaning magnet.

I agree i think thery will be alright with each other while the clown is small, but the marron clowns can get up o 6-7" long

I would be wary of it as it grew bigger. I was visiting a guy from the local reef club around here and his biggest complaint was his maroon clown, which was full grown, picked on every fish in his tank that was smaller than it. I watched it for a minute and every time his six-line wrasse came out of the rockwork the clown chased it back in.

Incysor - My pair of percula clowns have started w/in the last week to take a liking to my cleaning magnet its pretty funny. They are tank raised as well.

Are gold maroon clowm fish very aggressive like the regular nemo fish?

Actually maroons are known to be the most agressive of the clowns. Tomatoes are right up there as well.

just a little input from experience - I had a pair of maroon clowns that regularly spawned in my 125 - but even though I loved them I traded them in about 3 - 4 years ago for a couple of tank raised ocellaris because the female was so mean I couldn't have any other fish in the tank because she thought she owned it all. Also she took to rearanging the tank and knocking over things.
Two other just my opinion things - clowns hosting in LPS's tend to be bad for the LPS - my ocellaris clowns which are just starting to show mating behavior and will be spawning soon, loved an open brain of mine to death - they got themselves moved into my 12 gal nano a couple months ago so I could get a new brain. So just be careful when it comes to maroons - great fish but has some bad habits.
