Glue question

HI All,
I have been working with epoxy and coral glue and all worked well.
But now I have to attach some smaller corals to a big rock which I can't take out of the water.
I heard you can use superglue/Krazyglue gel as well which is btw much much cheaper?
My question:
Could I put some crazyglue gel on the base of the coral out of the water. Wait for a few seconds and then attach it UNDER water to the rock?

Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated.
Michael

:welcome to the board!
I haven't tried it myself but I know of people that actually used the glue underwater (as in put the tube under the water to apply the glue) and they said they had no problems at all other than you use a bit more glue this way. You still have to be careful of your fingers though.

That is what I do. I place some gel on the rubble, out of the water, then place it where I want it, under water.

it works - i too have done it but its a PITA and the success rate is lower. you get a much better bond if you can take the rock out and do it out of water. but if you have to do it under water - say your glueing to a base rock or the back glass: put a good portion of gel type super glue on the bottom of the frag. as soon as it hits the water it will develop a skin. push it into place forcefully smearing the glue into the rock and then hold on. keep it as still as possible for at least a minute and hope for the best. the bond will not be as strong i have found till the coral, sponges, or coraline (depending of course on the type or frag/rock/coral/size) overgrow it. it works best with small frags of SPS coral and zoanthids because they quickly overgrow the superglue and attach themselves. If it a large rock you are trying to glue, your better off taking it out and using epoxy.
