Glowing Ball

I've got something on a piece of LR that is slowing growing. At first it was just a tiny ball, maybe about the size ofa BB, smoth perfect ball. It now has two little humps on the top and is getting taller. Thing is, it's white with a greenish glow to it. Under acintics it glows brighter. I've tried to get a picture of it, but with it being white and smallish I can't get it into focus. Anyone have any ideas? This is the only picture I could get that you could see the shape.

The photo isn't very good I know. Not sure about the bubble aglea, never seen any like this. Guess we'll have to wait for it to grow out and see what it turns into.

It's hard to tell, but if you say it's glowing green it might me Kryponite. As you near the tank, do you feel weak? If so it's definitely kryptonite and if it's bad for superman, it's bad news for your tank... J/K

I couldn't resist. but on the serious side if you cannot identify it, I would pull it out just to be sure...

Dont' pull it out if you haven't already. It looks like a small sponge. Does it have a siphon like tube sticking off of it? I have lots of little whitish/yellowish sponges in my tank and they are fine. I would leave it, jmho.

Well I went to check it last night and it now has tenticles. I touched it with the tip of my nail and it is soft.

You know, there are yellow rics/yumas on this particular rock, I wonder if it is just one of them that is cropping up?

don't know for sure but I have some similar things in my tank and I believe them to be non-photosynthetic coral polyps. Mine look just like you describe, check them at night with a flashlight - see if they are out feeding ie tentacles expanded. cool but bad news is they seem to do real well in my sump ( I sometimes store pieces of rock I just don't know what to do with in there) and then when I do put them under light I lose them. _Just a thought though - too many possibilities

wow, perhaps some type of shroom growing there, it'll take some time before you'll really know for sure. Keep an eye on it for sure though :)
