Glass piece on 66 gallon tank

I just got my base rocks and began my aquascape. All the rocks a cured but i'm waiting for a set of diamond dremel heads to arrive to make to whole bigger to put a 1inch bulkhead. I'll post pictures but for some reason I can't find my transfer cable.

There is also a piece of glass on the top of my tank thats dead center. Can I remove it? Or is it there for a particular reason. The lighting I have is 4X96 PC bulbs all 50/50. Since the middle glass piece accumulates salt and excess stuff light can get through it. So I was wondering if I did cut out all of the silicone would my tank be that more prone to disaster?

I also had to cut circular holes through my wooden hood to match the PC hood. I changed the fan too and added a ball bearing 230v fan which is doing a great job on get hot air out. Just wish we were in winter right now since its already hot.

I'm I limited as to corals with 384 watts of PC? And when should one change bulbs before the bulbs loose its effect? Thanks everyone. Will post pics...

That is your center brace that keeps the front and rear glasses from bowing outward. While I have known people that have removed their center braces, it is not all that easy to do and probably not something that I would recommend.

Its hard to say what corals you can or cannot keep without knowing more about your tank, what are its dimensions? We especially need the depth and the distance of the lights from the surface.

Skip,

From the top of the sand to the light its 18.5 inches.
Dimensions L48 W15 H20
Plus how long does it take before PC bulbs loose its efficacy?

Thanks

Most say that PCs should be replaced anywhere from 12-24 months depending on who you talk to and the ballast used to drive them. Personally I opt for annual replacement. If you act quickly youj can still getg in on www.hellolights.com July 4th sale where they are selling their 96 watt PC bulbs for $15 each.
You should have plenty of light for all but the highest light loving corals and clams. Clams like a dersa and some lower light SPS corals will do fine as well as LPS and softies, polyps, ricordias, and mushrooms.

I just added the PVC... I guess I went out on my own and wanted to see how this spray bars going to work? My girlfriend says its an eye sore but hey, its my hobby so I'm going to due what i want to. If it doesn't work then I'll go with what how everyone else positions their nozzles. Doesn't hurt to try right? The spray bar works great on my nano so why not just make it a bigger version.

There is a gap in between the rocks on the 66 gallon due to me having to break down my 20 long which has a fairly large rocks with star polyps all over it along with a wide assortment frags.

I am also breaking down my 4 gallon nano too.

My plan is to combine both my 20 long and my 4 gallon nano into my 66 gallon. The 20 long will then be turned into a sump which I just got the glass pieces and silicone. I still have to find a tub to put my corals until I feel the parameters are good to go on the 66 tank. They all tested everything at "0". But for some reason I'm gonna put a cleanup crew and wait for a week and a half, just to be safe.
