Hi Guys,

It has been a while but I am getting a reef tank again. I ending up moving to Toronto so I had to sell all my stuff. I have moved back to Calgary because I like it better here.

So I am starting all over again. It kind of sucks but I will set it up better this time

I just ordered a Nanocustoms Nanocube (fully loaded) 12DX with 96watts of lighting it should be here in a week or two.

I am going to make a reef tank with lots of corals and a few fish (2 or maybe 3).

I know many of you guys have Nanocubes so I have a few questions for you.

I was going to setup the chambers like this 1. as a refugum with a few small pieces of LR and some allege (I am getting the light installed by Nanocustoms) 2. just a heater and 3 with cemi-pure + carbon. Am I missing anything?

How much LR should I order to start the cycle? (I know there will be a bit that comes with the coral) and How much Sand should I order?

I am going to use RO /DI water and add a bit of PH reef buffer, is there anything ells I should add too?

Thanks for all your help.

I'm not a nancube kind of guy but what you have listed sounds like a great start. I wouldn't add anything other than a buffer, just do water changes. Um I guess about 15 pounds of live rock would be a good place to start. An inch or two of sand should do fine too. I'm not sure if the cube you have has it but a surface skimmer is a great thing to have.

Well, im a nanocube guy, there are quite a few of us here :D

the general rule of thumb is about 1-2 pounds of LR per gallon, the more the better. I personally used about 7 pounds in my nanocube 12 dx. As for sand, 1-2 inches is good, again, about 1 pounds or so per gallon.

The only thing you need to add is patience :D

Welcome back to the reefing hobby and ask questions :D
