Not sure if the nano enthusiasts are down with sumps on your tanks.

I have one because it is easier for me. I love this site but as I am in Australia I mostly use masa.asn.au (Marine Aquarium Societies of Australia)

My tank contains snails, urchins (long spined and collector) and hermits for clean up. A pair of Clarkii's hosted by a radianthus anemone ( bleached at the moment) and a Bennets' Puffer.

Corals
red morphs
duncan 6 polyps
frogspawn (non branching)
torch 2 polyps
acan frag 7 polyps
2 fungia orange and green
daisy
lobo
some boring zoas
sarco
fluffy morphs

All is going well 4 months after this tank was struck from another tank (now the sum)

water is perfect and fish are happy. Will keep you posted

I'm down with sumps! It's just sometimes hard for a nano tank enthusiast to get the proper hardware setup due to space and hassle. Love that setup, but can you post some pictures of the sump too? I especially like those duncans!

Oh yeah I don't know if I've told you, but :welcome to Nanotank!! :lol:

I will be picking up a pico this weekend. My plan is to build a wier into it and place my pump and filter material in there.

I will post pics along the way,,,,,,if it's not a complete disaster!

total tank size is 15 Litres, What is that in your crazy imperial system :roll: ??

15 liters = 3.96258079 US gallons (I used google, just type in what you want to conver "15 liters to gallons" and you get the math done for you)

See, isn't that much easier. :shock: :roll:

Oh well! I hope the pico comes out. I'm thinking I may set up a pico at work, but I'm never at my desk so it seems pointless.

I missed out on the 15L on ebay, I purchased a new 12" rimless cube.

It is really hot here so I am thinking about using a 20L bucket as a sump to control evaportation.

I really want a nano but I don't want too much hassle. :roll:

I will set it up after christmas, but will definately keep you posted in the meantime.

Hopefully I can drill the glass without breaking it!

Go slow on the drilling and have running water to cool and clean the cut. Go slow and you will do fine. Diamond bits are a must IMO.

New FTS and coral pics

Update on my 22 Gal,

I am finally happy with my aquascaping after 4 months of changing it around. I have lots of space within the rock for the little critters to escape from my hungry clowns.
Excuse the algae but here we go,,,


these red mushies are growing a new one about every 4 weeks

my dumbest purchase, a Goni. I didn't research before I bought.

A button frag that is about 2 years old. It spent 6 months in a pile of old live rock when I thought it was dead from my old tank crashing. It is growing a new polyp every 7-10 days now, Also this rock is growing coralline really fast for some reason.

Lobo with frogspawn in the background. Lobo seems to be growing, slowly. Frogspawn has a new (small branch)

Duncan is loving being at the top of the tank. 2 new branches showing within the week.

The largest of my hermits, Also the one who also eats snails


All done for now. Next update will be on the weekend when I put some corals in my 7.5

I think they do because they were not ready for sale when I twisted his arm to give it too me.

(that's the orange one)

The blue came on some premium LR from Aquariums in Paradise (awesome LR)

I only know LFS on the Goldie, I have never really seen any around except some moti at Reef Secrets (my fave)

I think that you would be better off asking snaza or tmd77

Well after a near disaster on Sunday, I have finally added a full syphon to the overflow in addition to the Durso.

I never really understood the concept of the silent overflow when I plumbed the tank oringinally and still don't understand why R. Durso's site doesn't mention that you really need a full sphon for the Durso to work?

Anyway, my cowrie decided to take a trip down the 25mm durso on Sunday which flooded the tank. Thankfully (sorta) the first of the flood rained down directly onto the power outlet, cutting the supply.

2 hours of coat-hangering later, the bugger came flying out of there., I decided this was not good enough.

My tank only has 2 holes drilled so one was the inlet, one the outlet.
I took the outlet off and cut it down, adding some eggcrate for safety and added a ball valve to adjust.

I returned a 15mm pipe out and over from the back of the tank from the sump pump.

I'm stoked, it is completely silent, and EASY to tune.


Here's the pics.

I made a few cuts in the top to drop the eggcrate in. Also made it easy to re-install in the tight weir space.

A new addition, Sabre Toothed Blenny. A victim of my cast net. I nice fish actually. Loves hanging around and has a great swimming style.



The new FTS. I have picked up some Tubinaria from reefsecrets. I've also removed a few kilos of LR from the display to make some room



the little tank on the right is my secret sqirrell project. 8L all in one with DSB. 5watt pump, 2 18watt PC's. Should be able to house a couple of sps frags when it has fully cycled.


My CBS is up the duff again. Here she is cleaning here eggs.
