Freshwater rocks in a SW tank?

Hey guys, the guys at my LFS told me it was ok to leave my fw rocks in while the tank is cycling.

Just wondering if this is illadvised or something that has no side effects on the process?

i guess you could but why would you? live rock is your foundation to filtering and cycling you tank.

I had a few in the tank already so I just stacked the liverocks on top of them for more volume for the wall. Good to know if wont be harmful to anything.

my lfs was telling me about a guy that used LR in his and then put FW gravel and it screwed everything up. its not the rock but she said it was very bad. i would play it safe than sorry. you know how fussy SW can be. :anxious

Well it really depends what the fresh water rock is. It may not be a problem but it could leak trace elements throwing things out of whack. PVC is a good filler as it is inert and will not throw any levels off. HTH.
