its alittle empty right now cause i sold a bunch of my show plants to my LFS. i buy them online grow them for to months or so then i sell them for double what i paid. it pays for everything in and on the tank....filters, chemicals,fish,food,....ect. works out pretty good

Erik, you capitalist! How do you do that? I want to do it, too. :) I did sell my LFS some caulerpa recently. I had an overabundance of red and green. That stuff is expensive!!

I used to place Ivy clippings in the filter of my FW tanks and it helped with the Nitrates. I couldn't have them in the tank due to the fishs rearranging, so as a compromise I had an ivy growing OUT of the tank. :D

jennie,
i tried that for a while until the plant got to big and wouldnt let that much water through the filter....i used a spider plant. the tank lookied awsome when the plant was big and growing all over the place.

april,
right now i have been naglecting this tank, i have been putting all time into my tenSW. i am very fortunite that my LFS has a bunch of PPL that are big into FW planted tanks. they buy all the plants i bring and sometimes they catch me before i go in and buuy them out of my truck...lol. it works out good but i have alot of money invested into a CO2 system, and i have to change my substrate ever four to five months. plants grow awsome in my tank but i have the hardest time keeping fish, so most of the time there is only one or two fish and the rest is plants.

I used the Aquaclear Sponge Blocks in my Penguin 330s and the roots from the ivy would run all through the sponge.
