Fraggin Daisy Polyps

Hi guys I just got these softies that look similar to my green star polpys but purple with green dot centers. It's easy to frag the green stars because the mat they're on, but the daisy polyps grow on the rock I got it on in a sphagety like fashion. eww! How do you frags them?

On thought I had was to just let them spread out to another rock then return the original to an LFS since it takes up half my pico.

You should be able to use a razor blade or exacto knife and cut in between the polyps to frag those. You can cut the purplish mat and the colony will be fine.

I kinda new to this and initially I tried to razor blade but with the rock it seem tedious. I'm also worried that I'll squeeze the individual polyp too hard while doing it. Any advice on the art of doing so?

Use a razor blade and cut the mat where you want to frag it. Then take a screwdriver/chisel and a hammer and break the rock where you cut the mat. Most coral are pretty hardy and can handle being fragged. You may loose a few polyps in the process but it should recover pretty quickly.
