Formal Introduction

Hey folks! I'm pretty new to both the hobby and the site, so I thought I would take some time to introduce myself. I started out by buying my girlfriend a 12g aquapod for christmas, and it was cycling by jan. 1. By now, the only part of the tank she is still involved in is picking out livestock... figures. Its not too badf tho, cause im a pre-marine bio major in college.
Right now, all i have in the tank is 20lbs of LS, 15-18 lbs of LR, 1 ossilaris (sp) clown, 1 emrald crab, 1 porcalin crab, 1 random purple and green urchin thingy (the woman couldn't live without it) and an extensive cleanup crew.
I am very interested in starting to stock corals, but i really want to know more about them first. Any advice on easy started corals, or good hearty ones to start with would be greatly appriciated. Also, if anyone would like to contribute to the "I spend more on fish tanks then food" fund, I would love that too! Hehe.
Thanks for the input, and dont be afraid to lay it on me if(when) I screw up.

Deciding on coral depends mostly on what lighting you have on the tank. Assuming that you have compact fluorescent (or aka PC/Power Compacts) then you can easily start off with most soft coral. Button Polyps, xenia, mushrooms, star polyps...etc. These are low light demanding coral that will usually grow quite well in a beginner tank. Sounds like you are on a good start and hopefully we will see some photos before long.

btw, welcome to Nanotank
