Foggers

I'd like to set out some foggers sometime this weekend and would like some input as to how everyone else handles a situation like this.

My general idea is to get a large piece of plastic and tape it along the bottom at the base of the tank.

How long do you guys think that this will be safe for the tank?

I would seal the tank with a plastic wrap as you said turn off filters and pumps for the time to prevent them from entering the tank.....I would place 2 layers on taping around the bottom of the tank each time making sure that you seal it well ...then go by the instructions as to when you can reenter the house it is usually only 3-4 hours that you cant be in when our house was sprayed that is what we did we sort of tented it and covered it 2 x in plastic sealing it each time then placed loose plastic over everything else stand included it seemed to work for us we left ours "wrapped" almost 6 hours and had no ill effects tho we turned the stuff back on in sequence filter 1 power head then the second then we ran the lights from 4 pm till 10 pm then back to regular schedule the next day :mrgreen:

Yeah,

I fogged heavily 4 months ago for Spiders, I had to rap tight my entire tank with glad trash bags, everywhere.

I also have glass lids on both my sump and tank so that helped out a 10 fold.

Spiders were dead and tank was perfect.... I was real nervous at first but it all worked out in the end.

What is the upside on keeping the pumps off?

Would this be a good time to feed the tank if the pumps are going to be turned off?

The up side in my opinion is that it keeps from drawing in any of the contaminated air to the tank I would say that once you can enter the house that you should be safe to turn them back on .....how ever when using these products the suspend in air and dispurse all over the house or room thus "coating" all areas they are not the safeset method an depending on what you are fogging for there are diffrent product that work equally well with out the worry ....The main pump you want off is the filter ...........I would feed the tank as that will give all things a chance to eat .... What are you fogging for ? :mrgreen:
