honestly its worth it but IMO i would buy a new tank and start from scratch. buying a fully set up tank w/ inhabitants can be very problematic. live stock making the shipping, tank scratched, old equipment, ect..... just my opinion though.

Thanks for the advice. I do have 2 13w power compacts Ive thought of putting over top a 10 gallon. If I did this though I would want to build a sump in the tank probably on one of the sides. Is there a recomended way of doing this. My main drawback to the ebay tank was all the stuff I would need to get rid of. The only coral I would want to keep from it was the shrooms and that cowrie would need to go because I read that they only feed on softies.

dakkoon,

I don't know for $150.... Buy a 5 gallon ($10 if even that) AGA and the two 13w PC would be pretty descent for lighting. Then you have $140 to spend on sand, rocks and corals. But then again do you have LFS that carry a variety of corals? Anyways, keep us posted on your plans.

Okay let me know what this sump design looks like. I figured Id have it take up about 2.5 inches wide. Unless somebody knows of anything better Ill probably use 1/4" plexi and aquarium silicone to make the overflow not sure what to paint it with. Ill probably wait till the following week to do the canopy and lighting(I just bought and house and it keeps me rather busy on the weekends). Thanks for any advice and feedback positive or negative.

Okay I love your tank. Now for my flood of newbie questions.
1. What did you cut it with?
2. What did you bond it with?
3. Is that black acrylic in the back or did you paint it?
4. If painted what with?
My god Im a pain.

1. i used a scoring knife you can buy at HD. for the overflows i used a small carving bit for my drumel.
2. i got some acrylic bond from my local glass shop and used a cyringe to apply it the seams.

3. painted it with some flat black spray paint also from HD.
