Feather Duster Trouble

I have a large (3" diameter when open) Hawaiian feather duster that hasn't come out in three days - since my last water change. I tested my water before and after the change and the only thing of note was that my pH rose from 8.2 before to 8.4 after. Would the pH change cause him to hide out for three days? He moves inside the tube if handled, so he's still alive.

Help!

I hope I have the same experience. My pH has never made that kind of jump in the past. Do you think that is a factor with the duster?

Liiiike.....??? I test for pH, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, spG and calcium. They were all acceptable before the water change and, with the exception of the pH, improved after. I don't intend to sound sarcastic if I do, but I really don't know better.

Maybe my feather duster is depressed.

Thanks again,
Karen

When in doubt, just keep testing your water. If you lose something of that size, it will show up in your tests pretty quickly.

Still in the tube. I don't see a crown floating around the tank anyhere, so I guess it has not been shed.

Guess what?! After nearly 2 weeks, my feather duster has reemerged from his tube with....get this....a new smaller crown! I guess he must have shed the other one. Any ideas why I never saw it in the tank anywhere?

Thanks,
Karen :???:
