the red grape macro is from EDDY and JESSE thanks again. all the grapes are falling off but you can see where the new ones are growing.

here something i picked up last week, thought it was pretty rare. blue mini clove poylps, have never seen them blue, just brown and whitish.

Thats an awesome tank!

Those blue clove polyps might rather be blue anthelia... just a thought...both ways, great find, it looks very bright :D

anthelia is the scientific name for clove poylps, they look exactly like the pics just small. they dont grow any bigger than the pic i posted.

 WOW. That's a nice setup you've started. Do you have any mechanical filtration like filter a pad ? Or does it just pour directly into your fuge? Hopefully my grapes will grow too. Mine took a week to arrive but that's because I gave Eddy the wrong zip code

thanks

the only mechanical filteration is a piece of foam to hold back the air bubbles from the pump. other than that it just pours into my fuge.

all my grapes fell off and are now growing back.

ill get some pics tonight......

The same with mine too. But mines worst . The stems are pale but gradually becoming red. Really nice DIY tank. I would build my own but I just don't trust myself. :) That's why I buy my tanks and usually end up tweaking them out.

how big do you think you can go with 1/4 inch plexi??? if you were to stay at about 12" depth that is.

heres acouple updated pics...

other inhabitants... maited pair of yasha hase gobies w/ two randalli's pistol shrimp, four blue legs (pencil eraser size), two nerite snails, two astraea snails (very small), three tiny brittle sea stars, red grape micro algea, cheato in the fuge, one nassarius vibex snail.

tank holds 5 gallons, 3.5gal w/ rock and sand. 1.5gal water change weekly, mixed for two days prior. RO/DI top off water and water change. topic marine pro-reef sea salt. JBJ K2 Viper HQI pendant, 70w 14k bulb, 10hrs a day. JBJ ATO. Digital Aquatics reefkeeper2. Taam rio 400 return pump was to noisy so i switched to mini-jet 606. hydor theo 50watt heater.

having a glass tank made custom 3/8's thick same size. plexi is getting scratched up and i want something alittle more strudy. planing on putting a piece of plexi on the inside bottom of the new tank, so there isnt any chance of pistols breaking the glass.

feeding gobies mysis, brine, and a soft pellet. i target feed so there isnt any wasted food. they have been eatin once to twice a day. both fish come out of hiding but are very easily startilde. i havent been able to get a good pic of them and the shrimp. still triing.

well i think thats about it, if i left anything out that your interested in, just ask.

thanks
erik

thanks jesse and aquemeni5110

havig a hard time gettin a good pic of both fish, they stardle very easily. when i feed them i have to stand on opposite side of the tank and look in the reflection of the plexi so that they dont see me. it works out really well. everyday they stay out alittle longer, one of these days ill get a pic.

I saw the digital aquatics reefkeeper on mike's 72g when I visited his place. What's your feedback on it? Also, Is it really necesary for small tanks?

brian,
i really think that a reefkeeper works great on any size tank. there are to many options for it not to work great. the biggest plus it controls my heater and an extra fan to cool when it gets to warm. pretty soon ill be switching back to PC's and i have three different plugs so that i can time them to give the dust till dawn effect. with three power cord for lights, one for moonlight, PH control, heater/chiller, it just neatens everything up, no bulky timers......its worth every penny.

Sweet... I can't wait to get one. Your tank looks great. I'm jealous that my red grapes have not grown have half as yours did.
