Thx guys to reply and share your experience & some backup plans to share and well we all need to have this in mind cause we dont know when is gonna happend to us.....

PIRATE yes i heard your story before and i feel really sorry for your big loss and a bet it was a nightmare ....something to remind all your life lol...but better the tank than us ha....and well what i got in the end was backup thing for computer that last like 5 hours if lucky and some battery airpumps just if something happens in the future....but well like you could imagine when i got my power back everything was fine except for temperature that i had to fix slowly so fish didnt go in a shock....

I really feel for the folks in Florida. They have had like 8 hurricanes in the last two years. Some of them hitting the same places twice. We have been lucky in Louisiana for years, but our luck ran out.

It would nice if someone would engineer a (affordable) power backup system designed exclusively for aquarium use. Check you powerheads or pumps on that computer backup unit. I have heard that many pumps do not work well with them, as the they are not designed to run this type of equipment.

I have em on our tanks the filter and the pumps runn on it I did a trial run for on it and they seemed to work fine. It lasted with out the lights on 3 hours this was with one mini jet and the penguin filter when I added the second mini jet 606 it decreased the run time a whopping 3 minutes . We have it set so when the power is down the moon lights turn on and the lights go out .... We also would if need be run to walmart to get a battery operated pump so far it has been a good investment here as for those in the hurricane areas this would NOT work these only buy a few hours :mrgreen: but for light flashes and down times from cars hitting poles these are great we had a power outage over the winter this prevented headaches for us... I am looking into a larger style one and will post the results .....
