Electric Orange?

My son really wanted a crab when we went to the LFS last night. We were told it was a scarlet reef crab. But, I've looked at pictures online and it doesn't seem to fit. This crab features dark reddish black and bright orange striped legs. It also has blue eye stems and yellowish-orange antenae. I tried to find pictures online that match and I found "electric orange hermit crab" but only a couple of photos and not much info. Does this sound accurate to you and are these rare or do people just not like them much? Thanks, I'll get photos if necessary.

I am not familiar with an electric orange hermit (the problem with so many common names for the same thing) but if it is the same as a halloween hermit here is a link with more information about them including a pic. HTH, Skip

Hi! Yes, the link you sent me looks much like our crab, but then, as you said it is difficult with the common names as I did a search on Halloween Hermit and went to this link:

and this Halloween Hermit looks nothing like ours. So, who really knows? As long as it behaves itself, I guess it doesn't matter much. Thanks for your help!

it is an electric orange hermit then, you normally see them for sale next to electric blue ones considering they are basically identical except for the blue bands are then orange, I think its a little rarer too, I love them, good luck with it, if you want i can find a pic of it

It's especially cool since I was only charged for a scarlet reef hermit. :twisted:
Man, I spend sooo much money there!
Why did I pick such an expensive hobby?

Also, this crab has pretty light purple fuzzy hairs on its legs. See? Sorry the photo's so large.

heck no, that pic was perfect size. comes up nice on my 19 inch, hehe. The electric blue my girlfriend has the same purple hairs too. I wonder if the electric orange and electric blue get along?? hmm...
