Dragon's RedSea is Ressurected...

Hey Reefers,

I finally decided to start up Dragon's old RedSea pico. He gave it to me while I was visiting during thanksgiving break. I have about 4 lbs of live sand and 3.5 lbs of live rock.

The filtration is a simple HOB filter that is really quiet, the Whisper 10. Then I'm running two 18 watt PC giving me 36 watts total of juice. The bulbs are 50/50.

Not sure what theme I'll do on this pico...

I am so glad to hear that you couldn't stay away from the nanos. I really look forward to seeing what you do with this tank. Keep us informed, Skip

truly amazing. Good luck mike and watch for the evaporation rate here, see if you can rig an auto-top off for it.

WOW, this an awesome pico setup.
I've always loved the shape of the RedSea Melody Tanks.
It's always nice to have a nano to care for.

Keep up the good work Mike.
I can't wait to see more picts as it matures.

I photographed my tank with a smaller resolution so reefers can view it's progess much easier. I also decided to add a second Whisper 10 filter to give me really good flow on both sides of the tank.

The heater is really hidden behind the live rock and the tank should be cyled in another 20 days.

What wattage are the lights you are using Mike? Are they the 18 watt lights that are made for the RedSea tanks? Thanks, Skip

Yes Skipm,

Each light is rated at 18 watts of power and I have two of them giving me 36 watts total power.

They are also 50/50 bulbs; actinic and daylight.

Thanks alot Mike, I bought myself one of these for Christmas and I am looking at different lights now. I like the double hang on filters, it beats the AquaClear 110 I was thinking about (cheaper too). I should be getting mine started in the next few weeks. Thank you for the information, Skip

From the lips of Mike......

Thanks to all the inquired on my pico....

However, it sold immediately in just under 3 hours to some lucky reefer in Iowa....

You will see, I have other plans on a nano, it just wasn't me anymore with picos.

The 6 gallon nano I have my eye on is a killer set... Nuff said...

Now it sounds like with the new addition to his family with the baby blue carpet anemone that he is ditching this temporarily.
