Day/Night Cycle in JBJ Nano tank.

I just purchased a JBJ 12 gallon Deluxe. I am replacing one of the bu,bs with a blue actinic bulb.
Is there a way to cycle like mosts tanks do with the blue coming on first, then the normal lights.
Obviously I will need a timer, but can the Nano do this, or is there a modification I need so I can set both bulbs on different timers.
Where would I go for such mod. Thanks.

Do you have two lamps? Do you have separate plugs for each lamp? If so, all you have to do is make one lamp an actinic and the other a 50/50 or a daylight and put them on separate timers. Have the actinic come on and go off 45min-60min before/after the daylight.

I hope that answers your question...

I'm kind of in the supply gathering stage right now. I close on a new house on Oct 19th, and it will be a few days after before I can set up the tank and begin to cycle. The Cube has stayed in the box, except for me taking it out to inspect it.
From what I know, there are two bulbs. One will be replaced as stated. The bulbs are powered via a remote ballast setup. Two male power cords from the light hood are connected to female jacks on the ballast (box.) from there, one power cord hooks into the main power source.
Honestly, I feel JBJ hung people out to dry with the lack of manuals and scematics produced. Ther eis only one poorly written and drawn diagram that explains very little.
Hope my description is enough for a better analysis.
Thanks.

i think the only way you would be able to control them seperatly would be to cut the power cords from the ballast box to the hood and splice in two female and two male plugs. then you would be able to plug in two timers. there might be another way but im drawing a blank....HTH

yea the jbj's i was told by someone else don't have independent lighting, but the aquapods do - really a bad move on JBJ's part - a serious mod needed to correct that

Yeah, I imagine the mod would be far outside the price range I'd be willing to spend. Oh Well. Guess it will be a 12 hour cycle with no dawn or dusk.

Instead of replacing one of the bulbs couldn't you find a small actinic bulb to add in the hood with its own remote ballast to give you a dawn dusk effect? Shouldn't be too bad, a lot better than ripping up a ballast. :D
