Is it too much? I had read somewhere that you should put 1 - 1 1/2 lbs. per gallon, but I think I may have gone over that a bit....hmmmm.... I put the LS in yesterday and it looks good...lots of little crawlies.

I do plan on doing some corals and maybe a crocea clam. Only a few nifty fish. All input is invited and appreciated.

I mentioned that u had alot LR cause i know we all start like that and later on wish not too have so much rock when we start buying corals cause they come with a piece of live rock ...tooo but you can do is get some rocks and make alot of LR rubble and place it in your 2nd chamber and if you want some in 1st chamber ... why i say this is cause look at my tank you will look that we start putting all that rock... then some go to friends or to the back chambers....

But dont get me wrong tank looks great but then will be a hard time to place corals with all the LR...

P.S: do you have your bio balls, bio rings and carbon in the unit and the 3 sponges???

It's a learning experience I'm sure.....

I am not using the bio balls or rings. Just the carbon an sponges....according to the directions. Have you had better results with a different setup? Also, what is the best way to increase the salinity of the water already in my tank? My SG dropped again...it's 1.019. What effect could this have on my LR, LS and hermits?

Thanks,
Karen

adjust your spG by adding salt water not fresh as top off for a day or two that way it will move up slowly and it shouldn't be an issue.
yea i think you have way too much rock that "rule" doesn't account for the fact that most corals come attached to a small rock and need room or the density of the rock - its really a useless "rule". sorry to say but i would remove about half of it :( i know that sounds drastic but you'll see what i mean as you start to get corals in there - less is more IMO........plus it is very nice to have some free sand space up front to put those corals like to be in the sand.
so what to do with the extra????????? i don't know, some could fit in the back areas like ed suggested, but not very much and i doubt they will take it back but you can try..... its really nice looking rock! you may have to just set up a bucket of salt water to keep it in should you want it in the future...... sorry don't have a suggestion for you i know thats a lot of money your out there
