custom tank

this is a pic of my custom nano tank, it is a all in one nano tank, sump and refugium in one. The display is less then 2.5, I need to re calculate becase I made it a little bigger but not much, it was 2.2, the fuge is 1.3 but now more and the sump is, oh I forget, 18w fluorescent lighting, one actinic and one daylight 10k, the fuge light is 10w 6700, the pic is before the acrylic was bonded and sealed or the pump hooked up, it is now running with freshwater till I get my heater, second pump and scwd
I also have pics of the hood lighting,

as soon as someone tells me how to convert the photo jpeg file into a internet webpage thing I will post it

Wow, do you have a picture with it filled up? How long did it take you to build it? What are you planning on placing in it? Sorry for all the questions, just curious.

its ok il answer them all, took me a long time to build because money is a problem, im only 16 and only get about 70 bux a week pay so yea, I guess if i had worked strait through em... 10 hours not including dry time for silicone/weldon/glue/paint, no pics filled yet, it still needs a the pump and scwd and a heater plus a fan in the hood before I reef it and it will house a yellow clown goby with all differnt forms of acropora mostly, some whorling monti, a couple zoos and thats about it, mabe a fire shrimp or petersons cleaner shrimp, the rock will be a mix of marchal and kaelini, the fuge will have mostly chaetomorpha algae and some rock kelp, brush plant, what ever stuff I can find that looks good and wont start growing in the display or sexually reproduce

oh and I calculated the tank to be $240 dollars of dry equipment(the building equipment and pumps and heaters) extra costs on the(salt, water, chemicals, rock, sand, fish, etc) i dont know yet

I'm impressed! It seems you have the patience for this hobby, something I had to learn  . Keep us posted on all progress you make, that sure if going to be a sweet setup!

thnks, yea im also a member of nano-reef.com but thats so large scale, theirs like several thousand members, this seems more private and closer here, what are their like 20 members, and yea i dont have paticience for it(i cant spell dont mind me), I plan on become a reefologist one day if that a real word, marine biologist specializing in the reefs

ok got the specs on exact size, the display is 2.3 gallons, the fuge is 1.3 and the sump is .5, the little over flow to the pump I didnt bother, I gues around .2, yea, that makes it a little over 4 gallons, since the display is 2.3 I figure it can still qualify for pico, thats whut I call it

Im very happy today, just orded the rest of the things I need to make the tanki salt ready. A SCWD unit, some plumbing, and a 50w visatherm heater and micro-jet 450 to push the water are on their way, im a little scared it will be hard to house the SCWD in the area I wanted, it says its 5x4 1/2x like 2 1/2 or something, does any one have the exact measure ments?

ooops lil big, sorry, if you want them smaller ask il fix
If you could post smaller images of the tank that would be great. I'm having a hard time getting a good feel for your tank scrolling up and down and side to side to try to see everything.
:alcohol:

600x450, or 450x338 are decent sizes for most web boards.

That definitely makes it easier to see. So where's the outlets from the SCWD gonna go? What kind of prefilters are you going to have for it?

B

the outlets will drop down in the front two corners of the tank about 2 inches back from the glass, the right one dropped down about 4-5 inches and the left one dropped about 2, the prefilter, um, never really had that defined for me but a mirco-jet 450 will power it at o say 80gph or so, it says a min of 50gph and I dont want it strong, just to change the current, maybe more ile 70 gph, il have to fiddle with it

You need a sponge or something on your micro-jet 450 to make sure that no detritus gets introduced to the SCWD. They don't tolerate it well, and this is generally why they break. I've known several people that have had them crater on them due to a small amount of sand or other crapola.

well i think im safe, fisrt of all thier is a toothed overflow into the first pump, whcih then pumos into the sump chamber, then the second pump leads to the scwd, both pumps have a grate on the and have a small sponge inside of them, there should be no reason why any sand should ever get to the sump chamber
