Copepods

I know that copepods are a tell tale sign that a tank is healthy....but my tank has a gazillion copepods, much more than what i'm used to be seeing....I didnt have that much before, now you can see them everywhere. My clownfish doesnt seem to want them in his diet. Is this normal? What actions can be done?

They're a good sign. No a clown won't eat them. There's really no reason to remove them, unless you just don't like them for some reason. They're harmless, and decent detrivores. A six line wrasse will gobble them up.

my two black Ocellaris Variants eat the ones that stick to the glass *real small and white*, the bigger pods that crawl on the sand and in and out of rocks are left alone.

Master er,

The large ones would be gobbled up by a six line wrasse just like Incysor said... They are like lions on the safarai and love copepods...

I dont mind them being there as long as my clown eats them...apparently its not. And I dont have any other fish, just one spoiled feisty maroon clown who nibbles on my fingers during feeding time. I've seen full grown copepods (no predators) at my LFS and they're not what I would want in my tank, at least not that many (i've got alot...have you seen the battle scene of "Lord of the Rings"?). I'm hoping not to see them grow to full size. Well, if they do go away....good. As always thanks guys.

Master er,

Be warned that the maroon clown are very aggressive as the grow, and they get big. I use to have one that I thought was so cute and he got big quick and out grew my first 12 gallon cube... They move around rocks when you place an anenome for them... Meaning they knock them out of the way as the anenome moves around... Bad little fish...

Yeah, I know how aggressive they are. Thats why I took him in, it gave me the idea that if they were aggressive, it would be easier to take care of....

By the way, you sold a ReefKeeper....I was looking forward to buy one....I missed that post. Thats okay.

I now have a gazillion livestock in my tank......how about 20 for a penny?
