I am completly new to saltwater nanotanks and was wondering if I could get some good tips on where to start. I haven't, but will be purchasing a 12g nanocube or possibly 12g aquapod and know what im looking for in that. I also know that I need to let the tank cycle with live sand and live rock until the nitrogen and ammonia levels equalize. Then what? Any suggestions of fish? I have some ideas but would like some tips from experianced people too!

Thanks

Thanks, I got my tank today and am anxious to have the water cycle. My rock formation is pretty cool so its a good start. Any suggestions as to how my two water circulation arms should be pointed?

For now, try placing them in the back corners facing the front glass. The placement later will need to be a little more detailed due to livestock, but that is down the road.

 @ jennie!

Well double nozzle sounds good or a hydor flo instead of the 2nozzle sounds better i guess not sure really but when i added the hydor flo what i like was that made a wave motion flow in my tank and well have the same tank as you and after a DIY i have in right side a hydor flo and in the left i have a double nozzle that im thinking on changing it to a hydor too but quite not sure yet!!

here is the hydor flo if you dont know im talking about:

Not sure if you have it but a surface skimmer is a great thing to have. I don't have a cube but i think the new ones have the skimmer while the old ones don't. Hopefully Ed will correct me.

Nanos are not suitable for any kind of anemoneas only the pest ones really small and free though lol and dont worry about your NEMO he will host anything from shrooms, polyps, GSP to powerheads... so dont worry about it and dont even think of getting a anemonea....

Clowns dont need anemones. If he wants to, he'll host something else i.e. a powerhead, some sort of coral... anything.

Yeah anemones are not really all that easy to take care of. If you were to try it I THINK the bubble tip anemone is the easiest to take care of. Don't quote me on anything, these things will get up and walk around your tank killing anything in it's way until it finds a place it likes, then it can get sucked into a powerhead and possible kill the entire tank in a kamikaze style bombing. Something like a frogspawn, torch (aggressive too), or even a ricordia kinda ... kinda... look like an anemone. I personally love frogspawns, but be careful, they have sweeper tentacles and you should try to leave a couple of inches (if i had to say a number...3 or 4) clear area around your coral. Just my two cents. But if you do go ahead and get an anemone please read up on them BEFORE you buy it and put it in your tank. HTH

you can just upload them with Nanotank.com but youll have to resize your pics for the server to accept them or even better and easy to use well most of us here used it is... create an account here

www.photobucket.com

then just upload your pics and if they are too big you can always click on edit and photobucket will resize it for you, and always when posting here with photobucket copy the link on bottom of picture there will be 3 links use for sites the one with OK and if you are in chat or anything use the other link and it will show it to friends in chat... HTH..
