CO2 containers help???

Does anyone know where I may purchase the smallest CO2 container online? I have searched and the best I get is the 5lbs alluminum container.

I tried sportingood stores and I brought home what I thought would work, two 20 oz CO2 bottles that are used for paintball.

But when I got home my MA 957 Milwaukee regulator will not work on these bottles because they have a small pin in the center that if not depressed will not release CO2.

The reason I want a small bottle is I'm designing a way to get my entire filtration system in my cabinet and I am limited on space.

I saw that some place in Germany sells the disposable CO2 Containers but they are not allowed in United States.

Maybe if there is an adapter perhaps for the paintball containers that would work perfect.

Please anyone help me out....

5# is the smallest cylinder I have heard of that is designed to be connected to a regulator. I did notice that the 20 oz. cylinder loks like it had a threaded neck, maybe you could replace the current fitting with a standard valve?

mike,

im an ex-paint baller, i used to run a shop so i might be able to help you.
couple questions:
does your regulator screw onto the tank? if it does they make a on/off valve for them tanks.
if it doesnt, w/ the on/off style valve, there are adapters so you can hook it up to your reg.

i used to have a carbonfiber tank that size that would hold up to 3000psi. way more volume than the aluminum tank.

Drty,

The regulator does screw onto the tank. And I learned that pure energy makes a the same container with a Shut off valve. Problem solved as quickly as I brought it up.

I just cannot use pin activated containers...

Thanks,

Mike

PMI PURE ENERGY 20 OZ CO2 BOTTLE WITH ON/OFF exist, so I'm set.

How long will a 20 oz container last me? It converts to 1 lb 4 oz. As compared to the 5 lbs bottle, how long do I have? Anyone want to give me an educated guess?

I run a 72 gallon reef tank with the PF 509 Deltec reactor.

mike,

i have a five pounder running my co2 system on my freshwater tank and it lasts me almost a year give or take a month depending on the tank. my regulator is set at five bubbles a minute. dont know if there even close to being the same but hope this can give some sort of idea.

Thanks Erik,

I went ahead and ordered two bottles at 20 oz each. That should allow me at least 4 months usage for both. I made sure to get the one with the on/off valve, they said it will work on my regulator.
