Clown with white spot or ich?

I got a small clown fish last week and yesterday I noticed he has about 5 tiny white spots down his left side like grains of salt and one slightly larger spot on his right side. I take it he's got white spot but he is still very healthy and feeding well. Should I leave him to recover himself or treat him now? I have some inverts in my tank so don't want to add copper as this kills them so have read some info about garlic, can anyone please recommend what to add and how much for a 48litre tank. Thanks for your help!

That sounds like ick and yes treat now, the earlier you get to treating the better chance he has of surviving. There are ich medications that are invert safe. Just ask your LFS and they'll hook you up. I use Kick-Ich and have had good results. Good luck!

oh and yes soaking your fish food in garlic before feeding is good at preventing ich... its basically because they're vampires and everyone knows vampires dont like garlic
