Changing/Raising pH

I tested my water again this morning, and I am still concerned about the pH level. While I thought my tap water pH was actually high (which had me confused as to why it would now be low), I actually tested it straight from the tap as well, and turns out it is low. (7.6)

I have managed to raise the pH to 7.8, but while I understand this is a process that requires patience, I am concerned about this problem from a long-term standpoint. After all, once I get my pH to 8.2-8.4, as soon as I do a water change, it’s going to go back down... and that change could be stressful to anything in the tank.

I am currently using a product called “Sea Chem Marine Bufferâ€

Kents marine buffer works well and isn't too expensive. Simply match PH and temp with the top off water to avoid any swings resulting from PH 7.0 water. You also should let the water mix prior to doing a water change. Mix the stuff up in advance and store in a water tight container and just mix prior to water change. Saves you time during busy days so your tank doesn't suffer. HTH.
