Candy Coral

Had this coral for a few days now and its not looking to well. Photos of Candy Corals that I have seen are all puffed out. Is my coral doomed? BTW...It was higher in the tank, I lowered it today to see if it would help any.

Hmmm..mine actually look like that sometimes as well. Since you've only had them a few days, its pretty hard to tell if its the light or some other water parameter.

I know its a long shot but have you checked you Alk levels recently? Mine shrivel up pretty bad like that when I over-dose with buffer.

Might just be stressed. Where'd you pick them up at?

Mine have looked like that and I"m pretty sure it is because the light I have right now is not good enough. Could it be your lighting? Oh, and from what I have been told, mine are not doomed, just need to be in better lighting.

Since I have lowered them they have started to expand a little. From what I read they are highly adaptible to a range of conditions, including lighting.

I've got mine at various heights in my 20H (2X65w) from middle to even bottom. I'm sure they'll be ok. Just give them a few days to settle in. Have you looked at them at night? Thats when mine throw out their sweeper tenticles. Looks really cool.

I would say mine have about doubled in size in a year. Maybe not that much but close to it. Mine have done very well. Easy to keep and they love to be fed. I target feed mine and they pretty much just take it out of my hand.

Nope, I do it during the day. They seem to sense when they are being fed and once one head gets a piece of food, the others send out their little tenticles and grab up food.
