Bye Bye Chromis?

I have a few Chromis which were really cheap and are really nice to look at if I want to see blue then green and the then blue, but they are eating most of the food I put in my tank and are taking up the valueble space. I would love to use the space to get other fish for the tank. Is it a bad thing to take them out and will that cause a strange flux in the tank levels It should theoretically should reduce the bio load but will it have adverse effects?? My wife really liked them when hey were samll and looked cool when they swam around i a school of 20 at the LFS, but im not gonna get 20 of them to have a school of fish.
Just wondering.

You shouldnt have any trouble with your tank if/when you remove them so long as you dont have to move/remove most of the rock and stir up the sand.

I agree, there should be noadverse affects from removing the chromis. Good luck in catching them.

Surprisingly ive had very good luck on a couple of trial runs. I think they are used to the net and think im putting in food. Little do they know. ill miss the guys but they eat too much and dont do much else.

Day 2 - I am trying my best to be patient but it is hard when they re so clost to the net and hen you try and get them and they are sooooooooo fast....I should have taken them out when i caught them a while back. They are smart. Why is it that the cheapest fish are the most resilient and you need a grenade to get them out of the water? It sucks cause i went to the fish store to get another net and they got a ton of corals and a wack of rreally nuce fish i could replace these guys with. Maybe they can sense it....

DAY 4 - This is not as easy as it was in the trial runs. I found two hitch hiker crabs while trying to "fish" my chomis out from the live rock. Caught one of them. He is in the fuge right now. These guys are as bad as the Damsel Disaster I had a while back. The Blenny is helping me though. I think he doesnt want anything to do with them cuase they bring trouble. I was alsomost ina rage last night. Practically tore the house down. All very carefully. No damage to anything though. Success there. Got to keep the nerves calm........ :gcool

Day 5 - VICTOIRE!!! VICTOIRE!!!
You gotta have a plan. :soldiers The plan as to beat them by taking away their hidaway. Move the rocks to a second tank. tie off the escape and 1 by 1. Off to the LFS they go. :yippee

The LFS is probably gonna give me 5-6 bucks each. I'm taking them over this morning. I was about ready to lose it the other night. I caught one of them in 5 hours. eventualy decided to give up and go back to it yesterday, with a plan. I set up buckets and move all the big live rock and coral one by one and they never left water. Dip a small bucket in, fill it with water, put the rock or coral in and then transfer. it took half an hour and the frustration levels never ran too high. they were cool little guys but a pain.

Dropped off the Chromis. Bought some zoos and a new coral. I gotta take some shots soon. The tank is starting to look like something.
until the next saga.
