Umm...He's not MY president. As far as I'm concerned, he's the state idiot, and I don't really want him back.

Incysor,

I concur with you, I was just tyring to make a joke. I forgot to place the J/K behind my heading.

I was really upset, when he was elected, you know our state California gave the electoral vote as Democrat.

Far as I am concearned he's nothing more than a little puppet on his fathers hand.

Nuff said,

Hey guys, I haven't been active on this site for a few months now, I go to Texas A&M and school has kept me really busy, but I hope to get active on this site again. ANYWAYS....

As a true Texan and die-hard Republican(despite the fact that I've only been able to vote for a little over two years)......Bush is definitely MY President. Once again, the Liberal-controlled media seems to be bent on portraying the President to be solely at fault. How about blaming Michael Brown, the director of FEMA?? Afterall, it is this organization that is supposed to be first in movement towards reconstruction and aid to areas hit by any disaster on U.S. soil. Bush has already come clean in admitting to being a bit slugglish in his response the storm. But come on, it's not like the area didn't have a warning. The National Weather Service told them days before, that a storm capable of leveling entire citites was nearing the Gulf Coast. The people CHOSE to stay, Bush didn't make them. They had ample oppurtunity to leave.

Despite this, the President along with the wonderful city of Houston, is doing everything he can to help out the victims. Congress has already O.K.'d his administrations plan for $62 billion dollars to help in reconstruction as of right now.

The President has done everything he needs to do, and has done it well.

Somewhere in TX a village is missing it's idiot.

As much as I despise the Bushtard, I don't really blame him for the fallout of Katrina. That was a massive screwup on both the Mayor and Gov of LA's part. And just think, Katrina MISSED N.O.! But didn't Bush appoint Brown to the head of FEMA? That's fishy, he was underquallified.

Anyway, Rita is now headed for TX, watch out!

Somewhere in TX, a village is happy to lose you to California.

Valid points. You're right, Bush is NOT to blame for Katrina, but I wasn't aware that Louisiana had both a Governor AND Mayor. I could of sworn that a Mayor was the elected head of a CITY not a STATE. But then again, I am the "village idiot", so I guess I could be wrong.

But you are right in saying that it is the individual Mayor's of the coastal cities, together with the Governor of LA, that are at fault.

President Bush did appoint Michael Brown, but at the time he was the best possible candidate. He did an outstanding job as Deputy Director of FEMA and also as a member of CMPC shortly after the September 11 terrorist attacks. Brown was one of the highly praised individuals given credit for the quick response and clean up after the attacks and was therefore a favorite to be chosen as Under Secretary for EPR and Director of FEMA. Much of the blame SHOULD be placed on Michael Brown, and NOT on the President, but the decision to appoint him Director in the first place was, and still is, solidly backed by good credentials and performances in past disasters such as 9/11. Brown did fail in this situation though, and he made the right step in correcting his mistakes by stepping down.

But Brown was by no means "underquallified", although I am pretty sure you meant "under qualified" seeing as how "underquallified" is not a word. But wait.......I'm just a dumbass, redneck Texan, so what do I know??

Anyways..... you are right in that Rita is on our minds now, and she really shouldn't be taken lightly. All Texas Coast reefers, stay heads up, she could be coming right at us. I've got cousins in Katy and they're thinking along the same lines as your folks......If the time comes for mandatory evacuation I hope everyone makes it out okay.

Even all of us "village idiots" out there.........
